ANRP Holds NEC Meeting, Reorganises for Greater Impact

ABUJA, 8 April 2019 — Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) held a successful National Executive Committee meeting at her headquarters in Abuja with quorum for NEC members adequately met. The meeting was open to all members who were willing and able to attend, especially its many candidates for all positions in the recently held general elections.

The following issues were deliberated and resolved on:

1. Post-election review and lessons learnt: a 7-member committee drawn from across the federation was constituted to collect and aggregate feedback from all members, distill lessons learnt and recommendations to be submitted to the party secretariat within 30 days.

2. Activities to increase our visibility, and step up constructive engagements as ‘the Alternative’ and leading opposition party in Nigeria.

3. Strategies to grow quality, engaged and committed members across all the wards in the 774 LGAs across Nigeria. Including setting up offices and electing exco members across the nation.

4. NEC was informed that ANRP is in good stead and not eligible to be delisted should INEC do so any time soon. However, NEC agreed that priority focus shall be put on the coming local government elections across the federation coming up to begin to win seats.

5. Possible name-shortening, and altering our logo to be more simple and relatable at the grassroots, which is still open to deliberation and debate

6. Possibility of merger, coalition, cooperation, and other relations with political parties of like mind: A 15-member committee is to be set of by the party secretariat to look intently into the matter and provide recommendations.

7. A board review of all NEC members was mandated. Four vacancies that existed on NEC were filled by members who have demonstrated dedication to the vision of the party over time, according to their expertise, in acting capacity pending ratification by Congress.

8. Constitution of Board of Trustees: members are to nominate outstanding Nigerians of impeccable character, with evidence of dedicated community service and patriotism.

9. Constitution amendment: Members to send in their inputs. A committee to be set up to finalise on the amended version to be adopted at the next Congress.

10. Party funding

11. Party discipline

12. Party Congress: The party shall hold a Congress at Eagle Square, Abuja later this year with delegates from across all 36 states in attendance, at a date to be announced.
