AATSG’s COURTESY VISIT TO Hon Minister of MINISTRY of ENVIRONMENT
AATSG’s Courtesy Visit to Strengthening Collaboration with the Federal Government through the Ministry of Environment.
On August 14, 2024, the National Executives of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu support Group (AATSG) led by the National Chairman Otunba Abdulfalil Abayomi Odunowo, Hon Zara Bukar, Engr. Hf Dauda MoiSoro, Hon Nasser Daura, Hon Adedayo Adeyemi and High Chief Osondu Ofechebe paid a significant courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Environment, Hon. Iziq Adekunle Salako. This meeting, spearheaded by the National Organizing Secretary Engr. Hf Dauda MoiSoro, highlighted the existing commitment to address pressing environmental concerns affecting various states in Nigeria while strengthening the relationship between AATSG and the Federal Government and the Ministry.
Nigeria faces a multitude of environmental challenges, particularly in regions prone to erosion, such as Ogun, Borno, and Yobe states. These areas, vital to agricultural production, are increasingly becoming uninhabitable due to environmental degradation. Farmers and communities are left vulnerable, struggling to maintain their livelihoods and ensure food security. Compounding these issues, the AATSG members have contributed significantly to national development over the past five years without adequate recognition or compensation for their efforts.
The members of AATSG expressed their concerns regarding the urgent need for government intervention in erosion management in these vulnerable states. Furthermore, during the meeting, National Woman Leader Hon. Zara Bukar passionately called for compensatory measures for AATSG members. These individuals, who have tirelessly dedicated their efforts, deserve acknowledgment and support for their sacrifices. The plight of the members is a microcosm of the broader struggles faced by the majority of the support groups.
The meeting proved to be a productive dialogue, as Hon. Salako provided positive assurances that the issues raised are currently under consideration by the ministry. He encouraged patience while the processes are ongoing, indicating a willingness to collaborate with the AATSG to address these pressing issues. The National Youth Leader, Hon. Adedayo Adeyemi, expressed gratitude for the minister’s attention amidst his busy schedule, reinforcing the importance of this partnership. With renewed hope, the AATSG anticipates that government support will soon manifest, enabling coordinated efforts to combat environmental degradation and uplift the communities reliant on agriculture.
The courtesy visit not only reaffirmed the AATSG’s commitment to supporting the president and government of Nigeria but also set the stage for meaningful collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment. Through continued dialogue and joint efforts, lasting solutions can be achieved to mitigate environmental challenges while ensuring the well-being of those committed to the development of our country.
