Potiskum, Yobe State — The Potiskum Parliament has once again demonstrated its deep commitment to community service by successfully distributing One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) to patients in need at the Potiskum Specialist Hospital.
The humanitarian outreach took place today, with Parliament members visiting multiple wards across the hospital to deliver financial assistance directly to patients and their families. The wards visited included:
1. Stabilization Center (SC)
2. Male Surgical Ward (MSW)
3. Paediatric Surgical Ward (PSW)
4. Female Medical Ward (FMW)
5. Female Surgical Ward (FSW)
6. Male Medical Ward (MMW)
7. Gynaecology Ward
8. Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) — the first stop of the day
9. Paediatric Medical Ward (PMW)
10. Accident and Emergency (A&E)
Upon arrival, the Hospital Management Team warmly received the delegation, provided guidance on identifying the most vulnerable patients, and ensured the assistance reached those in genuine need. In total, 100 envelopes containing ₦10,000 each were distributed — including 10 envelopes allocated to hospital staff and the Parliament team for their own patients.
The impact was immediate and heartfelt. Patients, along with their families, expressed joy and gratitude, with some visibly jubilating upon receiving the assistance. Many described the gesture as timely and life-changing.
