2023: Tinubu, Shettima And The Anambra Rally — by James Bwala

For the records, I believe this is where the arguments ends. Few days ago, I was chatting with a friend from the southeast, who argued like one defending the devil in the court of heavens. I could not addressed him properly to tell him how he was exhibiting ignorance because he was speaking of Anambra state and being an Igbo. I felt he had all the facts at hand but I know he never knows his onions. All I could muttered were few words and rest my case. He felt high and conquered as I left him in his own dreams.

I am happy with words from the third person in that freshly argument that day, who reminded him that even though he claimed to know his town, my points in the argument were weighty and worthy of consideration knowing the mindset of a typical southeasterner when it come to their own interest. My last words to my friend was ” The Southeast has been conquered by Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.” As I proceeded with other matters on the political writings I have been editing.

I was not too sure my friend underrated my sense of argument but I am also not too sure that he knew his place and people as I do. This evening was different when we meet again to cross fertilized ideas about the growing anxiety amongst political office holders. Those who may win and loose. The Anambra issue came about and my friend was trying to shy away from discussing the matter. Thank God I was not the one that brought the matter. Pictures do not lie and Videos on display at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka is enough trouble for a dare devil who claims to know everything the other day. I told him this will make part of my memos.

The crowds that greatest the All Progressive Congress, APC Rally in Anambra the home state of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi was unpresidented. There is no more argument about what the APC means to the people of the Southeast. The Anambra gathering was a sign post that reads ” The Conquerors Are Here!” I told my friend that from 1999 to date that I have been reading the political lines of regions and states and making permutations that have come to pass, I have not missed out on points and issues surrounding people and politics. One big issue that makes people failed in their analysis is that sentiments with which they argue their points. Keep that aside Nigerians are better analysts.

Last year, I posted on the permutations that Tinubu is coming first, Peter may play second position and Atiku Abubakar is coming on the third row after the February 2023 general elections and this friend thought I was the worse analytic person he come across in recent time. However, when Google through search make the same permutical analysis recently, he kept mum when he saw the result tallying with the one he earlier saw. I loved the Igbo spirit, it is that of a sportsmanship. All that the Igbo man wants is to keep his ego and business and if anyone is ready to play along he is good to go with such in the game of life.

I have studied the Igbo mindset with appointment of the FCT Permanent Secretary position from the creation of the FCT to date. I understand that it has always been about igbo business empires. My friend is looking at other issues but my analysis along this line has paid offon offon many occasions. The 2023 was also the same. The Igbos will vote only the person that will truly commit to given them a level playing field. Tinubu is a business man and plays his politics along that sense of it.

The questions and argument has been on whether or not Anambra will welcome the Tinubu, Kashim Shettima team? Now that the Igbos have come out to grace the occassion of the APC Rally, I am waiting for my friend to relocate to Ghana or perhaps to South Africa were he did say he would if the APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima were able to make history on Peter Obi’s soil. But the naysayers permutations were shattered.

That misplaced jinx was not only shattered to smithereens, but for ever condemned to the dustbin of history as some writers put it. The APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima, joined by other top party stalwarts held their rally at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Tuesday where the tumultuous crowd of delighted supporters in their thousands showed their delight and expressed endorsement of the APC ticket.

The pictures of the rally showed the level of support the APC enjoy across the country and the degree of acceptability of its manifesto, of extricating the country out of its myriads of challenges and negotiating a path to prosperity and economic development. Tinubu and Shettima so far have been the most credible candidates that have shown Nigerians that the political space in Nigeria have come of aged. The arm chair calculations is no longer going to work and twitter and Facebook are not enough to sell candidacy.
