AATSG Calls on the President to React Swiftly to the New Increase of Petrol Prices.
The Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu Support Group, AATSG, has called on the President, that this is the time to show Nigerian s that he is really committed to alleviating her sufferings.
The request was contained in a statement signed by the National Chairman of the organisation, Otunba Abayomi Odunowo and made available to newsmen in Lagos.
AATSG is calling on the President to react quickly on this new increase in petrol prices. As a Renewed Hope government, PBAT understands that the hardships being faced by Nigerians cannot be over emphasized, he will be doing the right thing if he is to put the Subsidy Savings into the economy Immediately.
The steps should also ensure that any cash handouts is managed better. Nigerians are still very corrupt and any group that is charged with distributing free money will ultimately steal most of it! The challenges of providing meaningful palliatives are daunting but Nigerians are convinced that President Tinubu is the only person who can find a workable means to help Nigerians minimize the painful impact run away inflation as a result of the Subsidy removal.
The AATSG recommends that the president should, as a matter of urgency, immediately make a pronouncement to Nigerians, by calling all stakeholders for an emergency meeting in the villa within the next 24hrs; so that the FG can take concrete steps (some enumerated below) to alleviate this implausible suffering.
Economic relief programs: The government should introduce economic relief programs to provide income support to households facing financial difficulties. These programs should include meaningful direct cash transfers, unemployment benefits, and stimulus packages aimed at reducing hardship and promoting well-being; however people’s names should not be used while implementing this, only their Voter’s Card No or their NIN should be used.
Emergency hardship assistance: Governments should immediately establish programs to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families experiencing severe financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, death, accidents, or natural disasters.
Social safety nets: the PBAT government should strengthen and expand social safety net programs to ensure that vulnerable populations have access to essential services and support. This can include programs such as healthcare, housing assistance, food assistance, transportation and education student aid and loans.
Job creation and training: To address long-term hardship, the PBAT government should as a matter of urgency focus on creating job opportunities and providing training programs to help individuals acquire new skills and improve their employability.
Collaboration with community organizations: The PBAT led government should immediately collaborate with community organizations and non-profit groups to provide additional support and resources to those in need. This can involve partnerships to deliver food aid, healthcare services, and counseling support.
Policy reforms: PBAT government, in consultation with the National Assembly, should enact quick policy reforms aimed at addressing the root causes of hardship, such as income inequality, lack of affordable housing, as well as inadequate healthcare. These reforms will help create a more equitable society and reduce the prevalence of hardship in the long term.
By implementing these measures and programs, we at AATSG believe the PBAT government will demonstrate its commitment and determination to fully support Nigerians during these times of hardship. It will define President Tinubu’s vow in the Renewed Hope Agenda that define the hard work needed towards improving the well-being, and improved quality of life, for all Nigerians.
The Subsidy cabals will do their best to fight the government in everyway possible, and this increase is the work of those who do not mean for Nigeria or this Government. AATSG believes PBAT will do his best to deliver a solution to this hostile situation. We call on the President to fight harder and save Nigeria from the cabals.
Nigerians are keenly aware that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Similarly, examples like the Turkish empire (Turkiya) today or the United States of America all teaches us about the painful steps needed for National development.
There are already examples of better results from the actions taken so far. We can recall that before the subsidy removal, cooking gas was sold for as high as N14,000, but now N6,700!!! We have confidence that the market will produce the same spectacular results in the petroleum market. With time petrol will be sold for as low as N200.
This Increase is unsupported by Nigerians or the Market forces. It must be confronted by the president.
