Wike Versus PDP in the prism of the party’s interest in Gov. Simi Fubara and other Rivers PDP stakeholders.

By Comrade Abdulraheem Adamu Bappa.

Since Atiku’s emergence as the presidential flag bearer of the PDP in 2022 after a successful and hitch-free convention, Nyesom Wike became aggrieved for not clinching the party’s ticked and started addressing the public about how he was denied the ticked forcefully as he claimed.

Atiku Abubakar and other PDP stalwarts like Babangida Aliyu and co reached out to Wike and his team for consolation and consolidation but all efforts proved abortive. Wike became even more angry after the official appointment of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as the presidential DG campaign, same person Wike sponsored 2018 when he aspired to become the party’s presidential candidate, thus, Wike believed the south was marginalized and Tambuwal and his likes ganged up with Atiku their fellow northerner out of regional, ethnical and tribal affiliations, forgetting that Kaura, Namadi Sambo, Sambo Dasuki and millions of northerners supported a southerner against their fellow northerner, Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Wike affirmed that he shall support whoever happens to be the next party’s flag bearer for the PDP to attain success, before primaries, but later on swallowed that promise out of his greedy interest.

He proudly and openly participated in antiparty activities which led to the party’s defeat in Rivers during the presidential election, something that had never happened in history until this time around.

His gubernatorial candidate, Fubara Siminialayi, and all the senators from Rivers won their elections under the PDP, but Atiku was defeated, that alone had shown to the PDP and the public how Wike succeeded in working against the party that made him who he is today.

In PDP’s constitution, any member caught in antiparty activities shall be suspended with immediate effect, but we overlooked that and decided to call him to order and see whether he could be given achance to rectify his mistakes but the man out of ego, failed to accept his mistakes, talk-more of making an official apology to the party’s national working committee and members nationwide.

Now, should PDP NWC suspend Wike or else afford to lose their integrity publicly? Well, the PDP NWC in this case is not willing to suspend Wike so as not to lose Rivers Governor, Senators, MHR’s and the rest, but the truth is, Rivers is naturally a PDP state, the PDP will win the gubernatorial elections 2027 in the state with or without him. Wike too became a governor in Rivers out of his inclination to the PDP, had he contested under a different platform, he couldn’t have won. Simi Fubara may even decide to stay in the party even after Wike’s suspension in order not to destroy his political carrier in such a short period of time, as they say, “it has always been a game of interest.”

The PDP NWC should as a matter of urgency, do the needful on Wike’s incessant nagging.
A stitch in time saves nine!
