Nangere/Potiskum 2027: Cargo and the Politics of Legacy and Competence — by Comrade Abdulraheem Adamu Bappa
The emergence of Engr. Abubakar Adamu Waziri (Cargo) as the ADC candidate for the House of Representatives, Nangere/Potiskum Federal Constituency, has continued to generate conversations across the constituency.
This is no longer just about party politics, it is about who truly represents the people and delivers real value on the ground.
Cargo is widely known for his closeness to the grassroots. Over the years, he has been associated with practical community efforts such as:
* Provision of boreholes to improve access to clean water in rural communities
* Scholarships and educational support to students
* Road reconstruction interventions in some areas
* Solar streetlights in selected communities
* Youth and women empowerment initiatives
To mention but few.
What makes his case stand out is simple: he carried out all of these efforts without holding any government office. It came from genuine concern for the people, not from position or power.
In the 2023 House of Representatives election, he clearly won the seat under the PDP, but was not eventually declared winner after his mandate was taken away through political maneuvering by the APC. Despite that setback, Cargo did not withdraw from the people. He continued to stand with them, support where he can, and remain active in grassroots engagement, even without occupying office.
On the other hand, many people in the constituency feel that the current representation has not met expectations, especially in areas of empowerment, visible constituency projects, and regular engagement with the people. Very poor in all aspects.
As 2027 approaches, the conversation is gradually shifting toward performance, credibility, and real impact, rather than just party affiliation.
It is also true that ADC is not the dominant political platform in Nangere/Potiskum. But politics is changing. People are beginning to look beyond party lines and focus more on individuals.
Because of that, it is believed that many people, even from opposition camps, may still support Cargo based on his track record, accessibility, and consistency with the people, regardless of the platform he is running on.
At the end of the day, this is about putting differences aside and focusing on what matters most: better representation and a better future for the younger generation of the constituency.
The message remains simple:
Nangere/Potiskum deserves leadership that is present, accountable, and proven through action. The die is CAST!
