Four years ago I wrote an article about Senator Kashim Shettima who was then rounding up his second term as the Governor of Borno State titled

”  My YEARS OF ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES TO  BORNO STATE AND GOVERNOR KASHIM SHETTIMA’S LOVE AND PASSION FOR  ARCHITECTURE AS A TOOL OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT”. In the article I stated the developments he recorded, his love and passion for architecture. And how I mysteriously met him as a young Architect.

I could recall vividly I once told Senator kashim “Your Excellency Borno will miss you and posterity will appreciate you”

Today there is no doubt why he is considered a likely running mate to the APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

No one has the audacity to question his love and loyalty to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there relationship is traceable back to 2014. In fact kashim Shettima was the only Governor of his time to invite Asiwaju for project commissioning.

His respect for Asiwaju is undeniable, he was very vocal and open in his believe and support for the Asiwaju movement.

He fought hard to actualise the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu movement when many did not believe or see Asiwaju as a presidential material.

Many call Sen. Kashim ‘commander’ of the Asiwaju movement but I call him the ‘Field Marshal’ of the Asiwaju movement.

Senator Kashim Shettima deserves to be the running mate of our inshaAllah incoming President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Jagaban of Nigeria.

His achievements and record as a Governor speaks a lot about him.

Even his enemies could not deny how drastic Borno state have changed during Shettima’s 2 term as the Governor. From every part of the state there are visible and noticeable iconic projects.

I was personally Involved in the design and construction of over 60 buildings across the state. It is indeed a privilege and honour for me to be part of such great history of rebuilding Borno state which had been devastated by Bokoharam insurgents.

One of the qualities that amazes me most about Senator Shettima is his ability to see good in others and appreciate them. Many of us were humbled by his simplicity and respect for all regardless of age, tribe, religion and other backgrounds.

This is evident in his choice of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum as his Successor and how he gave me and many others that are not indigens of Borno state the opportunity to work closely with him.

I am fulani from neighbouring Yobe State, others from various state and backgrounds include;

3. Kesta Ogualili

4. Jack Vincent Fidelis

5. Lanreh Obadiah

6. Ahmed ishaq ningi

7. Usman majidadi Kumo

8. Attajiri

These are few people i was able to think and  mention among many others.

Senator kashim Shettima has proven to the world that Leadership is not about title or designation, but it is about impact, influence and inspiration. As a leader he has influenced and inspired millions of lives.

Senator Shettima’s Investment in Education, Industrialization, Agriculture and other sectors will forever have an impact on the lives of the good people of Borno state and the country at large.

Below are few infrastructural development recorded by Shettima’s administration despite all the security challenges in the state:

1. Construction of Fourty four (44) mega schools across the state. 18 schools in Maiduguri and 26 in other local government areas. The first mega school projects in the state. Commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.

2. Borno State University (Borno’s first state University in 43 years). Commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

3. Industrial Estate which comprises about 16 factories. Commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

4. Six (6), One hundred (100) bed capacity hospitals in Maiduguri, Nganzai, Ngamdu, Hawul and 2 other LGAs.

5. Mother and Child care clinics across the state.

6. International standard Kidney center and diagnostic center in Maiduguri Specialist Hospital.

7. Radio Houses in Biu and two (2) other LGAs.

8. Rebuilding and Reconstruction of over one hundred (100) Worshipping places across the State (Churches and mosque).

9. Completion of the historic Maiduguri central Mosque (The construction of the project started 33years ago but abandoned. Shettima completed it in 2018.

10. Rebuilding And Reconstruction of over thirty thousand (30,000) Private houses across the 15 local government areas that were affected by insurgency.

The list will go on and on. These are few of Senator Shettima’s achievements in Construction as a Governor not to mention of his achievements in other sectors.

His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima is the definition of a true progressive leader,  he has done it as a Governor, Nigeria needs an intellectually diverse Vice President like him to support our incoming president Jagaban of Nigeria inshaAllah.

Senator Shettima started his career in the banking sector as the head of account unit and rose to the rank of a General manager.

He served as commissioner in 5 different ministries from 2007 to 2011.

He was Elected as the Executive Governor of Borno State and served his two terms from 2011 to 2019.

He is currently serving as a Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial district.

His achievements speaks for him.

He has the intellectual sagacity, He has the wisdom, he is fit and more than qualified to be Asiwaju’s running mate. His loyalty to Asiwaju is unquestionable. His love and passion for progress is unquestionable. He is a unifier and he has proven that when he served as the chairman of Northern Governors forum.
